Hello!

I am Richárd Pesti, food engineer and creator of Steap Tea Kombucha. My passion for gastronomy really started to develop during my university years, and by the time I got my degree I was sure that I wanted to use the knowledge I had gained to create my own product. I experimented with fermentation for many years, and had at least that much time to understand its incredible impact, learn its context, and ultimately develop and select the (I think) best recipe for what is now known as Steap Tea Kombucha.

Kombucha?

What is kombucha: a live-culture fermented tea brew that is embodied in a lightly carbonated, natural and very special drink. The fermentation is an ancient method, called fermentation, which produces flavours that are unattainable by any other method. It's the same method that gives life to kombucha: it contains symbiotic yeast and strains of bacteria, or scoby, that work their magic and result in a naturally carbonated, complex drink.

Thanks to our unique technology, each kombucha retains its great taste at room temperature, alcohol-free, until you decide to drink it on its own or with your favorite spirit on the rocks or chilled.

Where did the name come from and why did we choose it? We wanted the brand name to reflect our approach and the way we work. We make our Steap from real tea brew, and that comes from the Anglo-Saxon term steeping.
